Borrasca Sidechainer 3

Borrasca Sidechainer 3 is a sidechaining Max for Live device for Ableton Live Suite 11 & 12.

A plugdata version is coming to all DAWs soon.

Version 3 Features

• Sample accurate audio- and/or MIDI triggering
• Volume shaping & RM sidechaining
• Transient detection algorithm github.com/rconstanzo/SP-tools
• 2-band split option with a 6db/oct or 12db/oct crossover and independent settings for both bands
• Pre-fade and latency from 0ms to 10ms
• Oscilloscope displays audio trigger overlaid with the final volume envelope
• Turn off ”SC Input” to use the main input as the audio trigger; place device on drums and gate them
• If ”MIDI Input” is enabled, MSEGs will only be triggered by MIDI notes. Audio input is still used for the oscilloscope & RM sidechaining
• ”Gate” button will invert the RM sidechaining to perform gating instead of ducking
• Optional clipping stage at the output
• Includes extra device that removes the bandsplit option and functionality. This device consumes less resources and loads faster.

August 30th 2024 update:

• Performance optimization
• 18db/oct crossover changed to 12db/oct crossover for better performance
• Click that happened after long MSEGs (around 1 sec or more) due to interpolation has been fixed. Maximum MSEG length also reduced from 2s to 1s.
• RM Sidechain behaves more logically when combined with the volume envelope

June 2nd 2024 update:

• Click that happened when pre-fade was enabled and consecutive triggers happened before the previous MSEG had finished has been fixed.

April 9th 2024 Update:

• Less CPU consumption from both 1-band and 2-band devices. 16 instances of 2-band device went from 16% to 11% CPU usage on my end.

Installation

Move Borrasca Sidechainer 3.amxd to:

Windows: \Users\[username]\Documents\Ableton\User Library\Presets\Audio Effects\Max Audio Effect

Mac: Macintosh HD/Users/[username]/Music/Ableton/User Library/Presets/Audio Effects/Max Audio Effect
